8. Career Goals & Motivation

I want to pursue a career in musical theatre because there is nothing else that brings me such an amount of joy as singing, acting, and dancing does. Last year I was in my first school preprofessional program for musical theatre and from the beginning 3 hour days to the final days of 9 hours a day, I could not get enough of the community, energy and the feeling of being more alive after each rehearsal and show. The emotion I get to release through just being in the ensemble and the freedom of creative interpretation exercised in Musical Theatre has me hopeful for what a future of this joy could bring. I have a desire to put all my energy into this art and if it pans out, I will have achieved my lifelong dream of being on Broadway. And if it doesn’t, I will come away with more experience, lessons, and memories of the greatest challenging and elating years of my life. Either way, I will not give up. Truly.
